Content guidelines: what kind of promotion works

5 min read

PPToGo gives you wide latitude on how you promote โ€” short-form video, long-form articles, livestreams, threads, podcasts. But every channel has rules of the road, and the platform has a few of its own. Read this once and you'll avoid almost every common content strike.

Allowed content formats

Anything you produce on your own channels: video reviews, unboxings, how-to articles, comparison posts, livestreams, podcast mentions, newsletter sections, social-media threads. As long as you can drop a tracking link or use a unique code, it counts.

Paid placements (running ads to drive traffic to a tracking link) are allowed but you must comply with the ad platform's rules โ€” Meta, Google, and TikTok all require disclosure of affiliate intent.

AI-assisted content is fine. AI-generated content with no human review or original commentary is not โ€” Trust & Safety will flag pure scrape-and-rephrase pages.

Disclosure requirements

US creators must follow the FTC endorsement guidelines: disclose the affiliate relationship clearly and conspicuously in every piece of content. In video, that means on-screen text plus a verbal mention. In text, an '#ad' or 'Affiliate link โ€” I earn commission if you buy' line above the link.

EU / UK creators are bound by their local consumer-protection regulators (ASA, AGCM, etc.) with broadly similar requirements.

We don't audit disclosure on every piece of content, but if a merchant or viewer reports missing disclosure we'll require you to fix it and may pause your account until you do.

Prohibited content

Adult, gambling, weapons, tobacco/vape, prescription drugs, hate/extremist content, or anything illegal in your jurisdiction. These will get the content piece removed and may cost you account strikes.

Misleading claims โ€” fake reviews, manufactured before/after results, false scarcity ('only 2 left!' when there are thousands). Any factual claim you make should be substantiated.

Trademark abuse โ€” bidding on a merchant's brand keywords in search ads, or impersonating the merchant in your handle / domain. Most merchants explicitly disallow brand-bidding in their campaign terms.

Self-purchase via your own links to inflate conversions. Detected automatically and earns 0% โ€” see the self-purchase rule article for detail.

What makes promotion that converts (and what costs you strikes)

Specificity beats hype. 'I've been using this for 3 months and here's the one thing it changed' converts better than 'amazing product check it out'.

Show the product in use. Even 5 seconds of B-roll in a video, or two real photos in an article, lifts conversion meaningfully.

Match the format to the channel. Long-form review articles on a blog. 30-second hooks on TikTok. Threaded use cases on X. Don't cross-paste the same script everywhere.

Penalties for repeated violations: warning โ†’ 30-day content review โ†’ account strike โ†’ suspension. We always email before any account-level action so you have a chance to fix the underlying issue.
